This is a photo diary of my costuming "travels"; where I've learned and struggled to make historical costumes for myself. They're not always pretty, but always fun, most of the time. And I want to share with others what I learn along the way. **You can find me on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/Time-Traveling-in-Costume-640703499399817/ or have my posts delivered to your email by signing up at the lower part of the right column.**

The Spam Folder –My Morning Laugh

A very humorous collection of spam comments on my blog.
I think Google needs to come up with a better translator because some of the comments which have obviously been translated into English are just so mindboggling and confusing as to what the sender was trying to say. I’ve started calling them my morning laugh. Most of the comments have absolutely nothing to do with the content of my particular post, and even when they try to make it sound like they had read it, it’s something totally different.  And of course at the end they add an invitation to visit their blog with a link.
These all automatically go into my moderation folder and I have to approve them before they get posted so if you read my blog very often you will never see them. Because they get marked as spam and then deleted. So guys, take notice: YOU'RE WASTING YOUR TIME HERE!

But today I’m going to share a collection of them, without active links. I wished this idea had been suggested awhile ago because there have been some really good ones that had me splitting my sides with laughing so much.

My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of
hard work due to no backup. Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?

  1. That's crazy! I was getting a lot of spam too but they were coming in too fast for me to keep up with, about one per minute. I had to set up my captcha code to stop it, even though I was moderating comments.

    1. I may have to reconsider setting the captcha code back on, but I hate it. They do seem to be having clearer numbers to copy now tho. I couldn't read a lot of them myself.

  2. It's because it's not real people. It's spam bots that pick up keywords in your posts. It doesn't matter to the various spam bots whether they get through this time or the next time - the programs are becoming more sophisticated and will eventually find a way to advertise on all the blogs that are currently blocking them. Raging against them is sort of like raging at a pothole - no one wants a pothole but yelling at it doesn't do much good either. :-) There are certain ways to decrease the spam bot traffic which will decrease the amount that goes into your spam folder - delete your G+ account if you have one. I did that and spam traffic ceased completely thus far. Don't click on the links - ever. Delete your FB account if you have one - FB is nothing but one huge bot net for advertisers and drives half the spam bots out there. You can communicate with other people via blogs, email, and phones. This will decrease the amount of spam you get to your blog and stop masking the actual traffic.

    1. Interesting thoughts, Isabella, thank you. I don't use the G+ account although I have a Google email account as a backup for my normal Yahoo one. I only get about 1 or 2 spams a week, other than yesterday's two. But I do enjoy raging at potholes sometimes.
However I would never give up my Facebook account. Its my world and I revolve around it. :)

    2. Apparently I don't have G+ after all. Didn't see any need for it. I get requests for Google friends from my actual friends occasionally and that's what I thought it was. If its someone I don't know (and suspicious) I block it.

  3. Oh my gosh! Those are so similar to the ones I get on my blog that I wonder if the same people are sending them ...
